These cookies will stay soft for days and using Ghirardelli chocolate chips add a richer taste! ENJOY

I have found my most favorite chocolate chip recipe and I’ve got to share it with you! If you choose to have your little ones help you make these yummy morsels then you will definitely want to PRE-MEASURE all of your ingredients before getting started.  By doing that you can ALMOST ensure that flour or sugar will not end up all over the floor ;-).  Ingredients:

1 cup of softened (salted) butter- put butter stick in a bowl just to ensure no melted mess in your microwave, then select 10 to 15 seconds.  You do not want your butter to be liquid but more like “squishy” and still solid enough to be in a stick form.

1 cup of white sugar

1 cup of packed (light) brown sugar

2 eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

3 cups of all purpose (white) flour

1 teaspoon baking soda and 2 teaspoons hot water (dissolve the baking soda in the hot water before adding to your mixing bowl)

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 cups of semi-sweet Ghirardelli chocolate chips


Pre-heat your oven to 350

Add butter, brown sugar and sugar together in your mixer bowl

Beat in one egg at a time

Add vanilla  extract

Add your dissolved baking soda

Add salt

Stir in flour (one cup at a time)

Using a spoon, place each ball of cookie dough onto a greased cookie sheet (try to make your cookie balls kind of clumpy)

Bake for 12 min (each oven is different so you might need to experiment on a couple of batches to find the right time for you)       * the cookies should be a light brown color when done 😉

Carefully remove each cookie on to either aluminum foil, wax paper or a plate to cool

Pour a glass of milk and ENJOY!
